An autumn forest. German Mills. 48x30". Oil on Canvas. Oct 2020 Capturing the fleeting light is a race from beginning to end. The late afternoon sun illuminated the leaves and branches breathing life into their fire colored edges. The light and shadow before you change every seven minutes. The challenge is finding the correct view and memorizing all the shapes.

Walking stick and berry. L'Amoreaux park. 9x12". Oil on canvas board. Summer 2020. A walk along the West Highland creek south of L'Amoreaux pond lead to this little discovery. A tall and slender wood staff that made an ideal walking stick leaning against some wiry old willows. A cherry red berry hung precariously from a broken branch nearby.

Sunset at Camp Balc. 30x48". Oil on canvas. Fall 2020 For only a brief moment the sky burst with all the energy of the sun. As a giant breathing light over the sky stretched out to the edge of the clouds. Radiating warm and cool colors over a treeline of tall willows.

Lake view at Bear Island. Opeongo 24x36". Oil on canvas. June 2020 The Sun radiated through the tall pines and collected in pools of reddish white light. A path lead down to the lake where rays of sunlight peeked through the trees.

Field and dark sky. German Mills. 12x24". Oil on wood board. Nov 2020. A dark sky foretells the presence of an ominous storm ahead. A glimmer of hope shines through the dark sky illuminating field and trees. As does life oscillate between the perilous and vanity of imagination.

Flowers Along a Path. German Mills. 12x16". Oil on canvas board. August 2020. Walking along the path I let my finger tips gently bounce over the tops of the silky white flowers. My breath is energized by the sickly sweet aroma of green chlorophyll. The path leads me towards a radiant field of light.

Winter along Algonquin's Hwy 60. Frank McDougall Highway. 9x12". Oil on canvas board. Dec 2020. One of my favorite stretches of highway anyway in Canada. Highway 60 Frank MacDougall Parkway crosses through the southern area of Algonquin Park. A wonderful drive any time of the year. Deep valleys, tall peaks and pristine wilderness await the curious traveler.

German mills park. Clouds over a summer field. 36x48". Oil on canvas. August 2020 A breathtaking performance by Mother nature I was honored to observe . Rich, pillowed clouds hang in the sky just above a grass field. Long shadows lean across the summer meadow. I remember the warmth of the sun on my face and the quiet singing of the birds.

Algonquin park. Lake Opeongo East Arm. Moss on a fallen tree. 12x16". Oil on canvas board. Sept 2020. The sunlight on the moss and the shadow underneath the tree had me enchanted. Scrumptious greens and radiant yellows. A lovely sight to pass any afternoon.

Algonquin park. Lake Opeongo. Trail at Deadman's Bay 12x16". Oil on canvas board. July 2020. Sunlight through the trees is a fleeting spectacle any lucky observer would know. At the top of Lake Opeongo's east arm, this vibrant and airy trail lead to a brook not too far away.

A marshy woodland landscape where moose are often seen grazing along the banks. An ecosystem of endless variety and marvel for the observer to enjoy.

L'Amoreaux park. Blue sky over ravine 12x16". Oil on canvas board. May 2020. West highland creek captured the blue sky in its shimmering water. All the colors of summer line the path along the shore. I can still hear the sound of woodland creatures scurrying about in the bushes.

L'Amoreaux park. Violets in the sun. 18x24". Oil on canvas. May 2020 I was looking for something to paint when I almost missed the prettiest little bunch of wild violets. Reaching up between the forest debris they barely managed to squeeze through. It was early in the season and these little beauties were the first to see the sunlight.

Algonquin Park. Lake Opeongo. Camp at Deadman's Bay. 12x16". Oil on canvas board. July 2020 Half log benches around a campfire piled high with rocks from the lake. The rugged wilderness of Algonquin park is sometimes balanced by the conveniences park staff maintain for us campers.

Algonquin Park. View of Lake Opeongo's East Arm. 9x12". Oil on canvas board. Sept 2020 September was colder than I expected, but I was prepared. The wind howled and nearly blew my tent away. I sat and watched the lake for hours and listened to Nature narrate her story. Splashing against the rocks and whistling through the trees. Every sound was another poem for me to enjoy.
